IES was engaged by McConnell Dowell Constructors (Aust) Pty Ltd to complete the fabrication and install of all mechanical and piping equipment at the LNG import terminal, East Coast Port Kembla.
The terminal concept involved the installation of a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) at a berth in Port Kembla Harbour.
IES works included the off-site fabrication of structural steel platforms, piping supports and gas piping. Mechanical installation of shipping winches x 9, sub stations and 2 x Marine Loading Assemblies [MLA]. Gas Piping fabricated off site and installed onsite and connected to the NSW regional grid, also the site wide fire water, air, and potable water installation.
The Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) will be sourced from worldwide suppliers and transported by LNG carriers to Port Kembla Harbour, where it will be transferred to the FSRU for regasification and injection into the existing NSW gas pipeline network.
IES was responsible for safe works, complex lifts and testing of the gas piping.
