The Roy Hill Project is a 55 million tonne per annum (Mtpa) iron ore mining, rail and port enterprise in West Australia’s Pilbara region. Samsung CT was the Principal Contractor” with Thiess engaged as the “Tier 1 Contractor”, with responsibility for the Raw Materials Handling, Stockyard, Dry Crushing and
Screening, and Slurry Systems for this venture.
Illawarra Engineering Services was subcontracted to provide and manage a team of engineers, supervisors and trades to carry out structural, mechanical and piping installation. IES’s ability to work independently and, at the same time, allowing itself to be integrated with the Lead Contractors and their respective workforces, handling other aspects of this undertaking, was a key factor in achieving completion deadlines in critical path areas.
Being part of the completions team, IES was also heavily involved in TQ verification, punch list walk downs, MC sign off and MDR compilation.
